The God has now mounted his mighty chariot, ornate, decked with pearls, with poles of gold. Resplendent, adorable, he exercises his powerful thrust, dispelling the darkness.
Rig Veda I, 35, 4
Drawing the chariot with the golden shaft, his two steeds, white-hoofed, have gazed on mankind. All beings, men and creatures, abide forever in the bosom of Savitri divine.
Rig Veda I, 35, 5
Three heavens there are: two in the bosom of Savitri, the third the realm of Yama. Immortality rests stable as a chariot on its axle. Let him who understands this now declare it!
Rig Veda I, 35, 6
The knowing Self is not born; It does not die. It has not sprung from anything; nothing has sprung from It. Birthless, eternal, everlasting and ancient, It is not killed when the body is killed.
Yajur Veda, Katha Upanishad, Part One, Chapter II, 18
If the killer thinks he kills and if the killed man thinks he is killed, neither of these apprehends aright. The Self kills not, nor is It killed.
Yajur Veda, Katha Upanishad, Part One, Chapter II, 19
