During certain times in history knights of different traditions have been the depositories, the guardians of a ”treasure” of immemorial values. These values have crossed times and eras and are for example Faith, Beauty, Truth , Justice, Service…
Today we are experiencing a challenging situation, and as human beings we are all, but maybe in particular we as members of the Knighthood of Purity, invited to pursue the chivalric ideal: to ensure that respect for the Living is at the heart of our daily lives; both in relation to ourselves, to others and to our environment.
The chivalric ideal could be symbolized by a lily with three petals: the one in the center invites us to connect with our Source; with the One; the left petal with Contemplation, and the right one symbolizes Action.
*Center petal: to help us connect with our Source, Pir Zia has invited us to recite and contemplate these words from Hazrat Inayat Khan (volume IV) I come from a perfect Source, and I am bound for a perfect Goal. The light of the Perfect Being is kindled in my soul. I live, move and have my being in God, and nothing in the world of the past or present has power to touch me if I rise above all.
* Left petal: we can connect with our archetypical knight and contemplate him/her with as much detail as possible. Let your eyes meet and your hearts harmonize….. in deep communion
* Right petal: We can then make this intention: Let my every action be in resonance with the qualities of the knight! We suggest that one or both of these rules come forward in your daily life at these times: ”Extend your help willingly to those in need ” (Copper Rule n ° 4) Pir Zia commentary: ”To listen to a need and to respond to it is to humbly seek to” raise up ” those who need hope. It requires balance and wisdom, so as not to die yourself of despair listening to the cry of humanity. Let everyone take their share, and entrust the outcome to the One. ”Be firm in faith through life’s tests and trials” (Golden Rule # 2): Pir Zia commentary : ”… faith gives firmness, strength and resilience regardless of the difficulty of the circumstances.”
