He alone may be called a householder who supports
\nstudents, elders and renunciates pursuing well their good paths.
\nKural 42<\/p>\n
The virtuous householder supports the needs
\nof renunciates, ancestors and the poor.
\nKural 43<\/p>\n
The foremost duty of family life is to serve duly these five:
\nGod, guests, kindred, ancestors and oneself.
\nKural 44<\/p>\n
The posterity of householders who gather wealth without misdeeds
\nand share meals without miserliness will never perish.
\nKural 45<\/p>\n
When family life possesses love and virtue,
\nit has found both its essence and fruition.
\nKural 46<\/p>\n
If a man masters the duties of married life,
\nwhat further merits could monkhood offer him?
\nKural 47<\/p>\n
Among those who strive for liberation, the foremost are they
\nwho live the blessed state of family life as it should be lived.
\nKural 48<\/p>\n
The householder dedicated to duty and to aiding
\nascetics on their path of penance endures more than they do.
\nKural 49<\/p>\n
Domestic life is rightly called virtue. The monastic path,
\nrightly lived beyond blame, is likewise good.
\nKural 50<\/p>\n
He who rightly pursues the householder’s life here on Earth
