The One who is most precious, revered and honored. The One who is the glorious and majestic lord of all generosity and bounty.<\/p>\n

The One who is the possessor of all glory and honor. The One who is the owner of every manner of blessing, perfection, honor and majesty.<\/p>\n

The One whose presence bestows majesty and generosity. The One who is the source of awesome splendor and abundance.
\nThis beautiful Arabic phrase begins with a pronoun, followed by two attributes of All\u0101h.<\/p>\n

Dh\u016b (pronounced ”thoo”) = Lord of, Possessor of
\nl = al = the
\nJal\u0101l = Majesty, Glory
\nwa = and
\nl = al = the
\nIkr\u0101m = Generosity, Bounty<\/p>\n

The attributes of All\u0101h in this phrase are based on the root j-l-l meaning:<\/p>\n

to be supremely great
\nto be glorious, majestic
\nto be sublime
\nto be high, lofty, far above, independent<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

and the root k-r-m which has the following classical Arabic connotations:<\/p>\n

to be noble, high minded, generous
\nto be highly esteemed, honored, prized, valued
\nto be excellent, precious, valuable, rare
\nto be productive, fruitful, bountiful<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This name is used in the Qur’\u0101n. For example, see 55:27<\/p>\n

Though certain benefits and gifts may arrive through human hands, one must offer all praise and honor to the True Source from which all blessings come, the One who is the Lord, Possessor and Bestower of Majesty and Bounty.<\/p>\n

The Beautiful Names al-Jal\u012bl and al-Kar\u012bm are also derived from these same two roots. The words jal\u0101l (glory) and ikr\u0101m (generosity) are\u00a0verbal nouns, while jal\u012bl (glorious) and kar\u012bm (generous) are adjectives.<\/p>\n

The demonstrative pronoun Dh\u016b literally means\u00a0with<\/i>,\u00a0in<\/i>,\u00a0on<\/i>, or\u00a0of<\/i>, but in this phrase from the Qur’\u0101n it is often translated as Lord of, Owner of, or Possessor of.<\/p>\n
